The United Way is one of the most recognizable community outreach organizations in the world. We brought their Live United campaign to life online, and encouraged users to Give, Advocate and Volunteer.
When the United Way teamed up with the NFL for "Back to Football Friday," a campaign to raise awareness of childhood obesity, they challenged us to create an interactive feature to spread the message on social media. The "Back to Football Superfan Dance" lets you personalize an end zone celebration dance (think Riverdance, Funky Chicken, Electric Slide) and share it with friends on Facebook or Twitter.
Our design challenge was to brand the national Live United campaign and engage citizens to Give, Advocate or Volunteer in their communities. A vibrant design set the stage for the message and clear calls to action. An interactive Flash piece on the homepage encouraged users to share their stories of community outreach. We also used photos and stories of real community volunteers to reach users and inspire a sense of service.
We brought the Give, Advocate, Volunteer message to an email campaign targeted to the United Way audience. Extending the Live United brand and using photos of real volunteers, we made a stronger impact and inspired more people to get involved.
