Key takeaways:

  • QA is a proactive, collaborative process, not just last-minute testing.
  • Different project types require tailored QA strategies.
  • Involving QA early helps prevent issues and streamlines the entire process.

Creating reliable and resilient website experiences

When people hear "Quality Assurance," they often think of someone clicking through a website before launch, looking for things that are broken.

But Quality Assurance (QA) is more than bug-fixing It’s a proactive strategy shaped to design for quality from the beginning and make sure the digital experience feels right for the audience. A strong QA process helps ensure that the website functions smoothly, looks polished across devices, and supports the needs of content editors, end users, and long-term site management.

At Interactive Strategies, we've reshaped the role of QA from reactive testing to integrated collaboration across the entire project lifecycle, because we know that the best QA isn't the one that catches the most bugs; it’s the one that prevents them in the first place.

Tips to build smarter QA into every project

  • Start early. QA team members get involved in the planning phase, reviewing requirements, wireframes, and UX decisions to spot potential issues before development begins.
  • Adapt to project needs. From landing pages to complex CMS migrations, we tailor our test strategy using techniques like regression testing, smoke tests, and component-based validations.
  • Test like editors and end users. We look at both the front-end experience and the CMS authoring experience. If a client can’t edit it easily, or a user can’t interact with it intuitively, it’s not ready.
  • Think about real-life usage. Identifying test scenarios in the early phases, we help define edge cases, prevent scope creep, and improve efficiency during QA.
  • Stay connected. Our QA specialists collaborate closely with developers, PMs, and clients to flag issues clearly, verify fixes, and keep things moving smoothly.

Our goal is to catch the issues that matter before they go live and to launch sites that don’t just work but deliver great experience.

Key questions to answer before a new website launch

  • Do key page templates load correctly across devices?
  • Are navigation menus functional and consistent?
  • Are all forms working, including validation and confirmation of messages?
  • Is the site rendering correctly in all major browsers and screen sizes?

This is just the starting point. Depending on the project, we often expand this to include CMS configuration checks, accessibility coverage, integrations, search behavior, and more. In future posts, we’ll write more about how QA fits into the web process. But for now, we hope this gives you a helpful place to begin.
